Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals scored three unanswered goals in the final frame to defeat the Vancouver Giants 4-1 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams dressed a mix of veteran and rookie skaters. Victoria iced 11 veterans, while Vancouver dressed 12. Both teams elected to dress eight rookies.
The Royals broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period when former Giant Vladimir Bobylev scored the game-winning goal. Victoria would add to their lead with insurance markers from Ryan Peckford and Logan Fisher. The Giants' Brennan Menell opened the scoring in the second frame, but would be answered by the Royals' Brayden Pachal.
The Royals went 1/3=33.3% with the man-advantage. The Giants went 0/3=0.0%.
Victoria netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 42 of 43 shots. Vancouver's David Tendeck and Ryan Kubic combined to stop 19 of 23 shots directed their way.
The Royals will wrap up their 2015 pre-season on the road against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, September 18th at 7:35 p.m. and the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, September 19th at 7:05 p.m.
