Rockets Take Rematch 4-3 in Kelowna

The Kamloops Blazers went in to Kelowna on Saturday night and lost 4-3 to the Rockets.

In a scoreless first period, the Blazers outshot the Rockets 11-8. Cole Kehler was in goal for the Blazers, while Michael Herringer started for the Rockets.

The Rockets opened the scoring 10:43 into the second period. Gage Quinney got his second goal of the preseason on a power play to make it 1-0.

The Blazers captain, Matt Needham, tied the game up late in the second period on a rebound to make it 1-1 going into the third period.

The Rockets got goals from Dillon Dube and Gordie Ballhorn as they took a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the game.

Nick Chyzowski got the Blazers within a goal as he scored with 3:17 to play in the game to cut the Rockets lead to 3-2.

Rodney Southam put the game out of reach as he scored 24 seconds after Chyzowski's goal to give the Rockets a 4-2 lead.

Defenseman Ondrej Vala added a goal with nine seconds left in the game for the Blazers as the Rockets hung on for a 4-3 win.

The Rockets finished 2-for-7 on the power play, while the Blazers were 1-for-5.

Final shots on goal were 34-22 for the Blazers as Michael Herringer earned the win with 31 saves, while Cole Kehler took the loss with 18 saves.

The Blazers will play their final WHL preseason game this weekend as they are in Prince George on Saturday, September 19th.
