Victoria, BC - In a Saturday night match-up at the Comcast Arena, the Victoria Royals squared off against the Everett Silvertips in the third stop of a four-game road trip. The Royals started Keith Hamilton in net, while the Silvertips gave the nod to Kent Simpson.

Everett opened the scoring early in the first period at 3:19 on a goal from Cody Fowlie. The Silvertips' forward redirected Ryan Murray's slapshot from the left point that beat Hamilton to the stick-side. Fowlie's marker held up as the lone goal of the period to give Everett a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The second period was a scoreless frame that featured strong defensive efforts from both clubs. The best scoring opportunity came when Everett was awarded a four-minute powerplay, but the Silvertips were unable to beat the Royals' penalty killers. Hamilton and Simpson stopped eight shots each as the game remained 1-0 heading into the third period.

The Silvertips extended their lead to two at 1:23 of the final frame when Joshua Winquist buried a short-handed goal. Winquist picked up Brennan Yadlowski's rebound in front and fired the puck past Hamilton short-side. Fowlie then added his second of the night at 5:05 on the powerplay when he converted from the slot on a pass from Ryan Harrison to round out the scoring. Silvertips 3 Royals 0.

Victoria went 0/4 0.00% on the power play, while Everett was 1/5 20.00%. The Silvertips outshot the Royals 27-26.

Victoria closes out their road trip tomorrow, March 11th when they travel to Vancouver to face the Giants. Puck drop is set for 5:00 pm at the Pacific Coliseum. Victoria then returns home for their final two regular season games on Wednesday, March 14th and Friday, March 16th as they play host to the Portland Winterhawks. Game times are set for 7:05 pm.
