Royals Shut Out Giants

Vancouver, BC- The Victoria Royals scored a goal in each of the first two periods and Coleman Vollrath stopped all 25 shots to shutout the Vancouver Giants 2-0 on Friday night.

Victoria`s Brandon Magee scored the game winner on a shorthanded goal in the first period. Alex Forsberg would notch the only other marker early in the second frame.

For Vollrath, tonight's result tied the franchise's all-time record for most shutouts in a season at five. The Royals also set the all-time franchise single season mark with their seventh shutout of the year. The Giants opted for netminder Cody Porter who made 23 saves on the 25 shots he faced.

Neither team was able to capitalize with the extra attacker. The Royals when 0/30.0% and the Giants went 0/20.0%.

The Royals return home for a two-game set against the Giants tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow`s game is Scouts and Guides Night with puck drop at 7:05 p.m., while Sunday afternoon is Minor Hockey Appreciation Day and is scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. start.
