The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-1 on Friday night in Kamloops, winning the first half of a home and home series between the two teams.
The Blazers scored twice in the second period and three times in the third en route to the win.
Gage Quinney had the lone Rockets goal while Jackson Whistle suffered the loss in net.
Kamloops outshot a short-handed Rockets team 36-23 as Kelowna was playing without four regulars.
The loss dropped the Rockets record to 50-13-4-1 on the season.
The Rockets and Blazers meet again Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna (7 p.m.).
