Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals topped the Vancouver Giants 4-1 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, as they scored four-unanswered goals to end the regular season series between the two clubs with a win.

Notes:

Season Series Finale: Today's contest was the 10th and final regular season game between the Victoria Royals and Vancouver Giants this season. In the 10 meetings between the two clubs this season, the Royals have posted a record of 4-6-0-0. In the past five years, Victoria has a record of 19-10-1-0 against the Giants. In those same five years, the Royals have also posted a 10-4-1-0 record vs. Vancouver at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Royal Birthday: Royals' forward Tarun Fizer turned 19-years-old today and played a WHL game on his birthday for the second consecutive year. Last year, Fizer recorded a powerplay goal and assisted on the game winner in a 4-3 home victory over the Prince George Cougars. So far this season, there have been four other Royals who have played games on their birthdays: Carson Golder (October 29th), Noah Lamb (January 1st), Brandon Cutler (January 4th) and Kaid Oliver (January 24th).

Fast and Furious: Victoria's 20-year-old forward Gary Haden came close to tying the season high for fastest Royals goal to open a period this season when he scored 13 seconds into the second stanza. The current season high is held by Haden who scored 12 seconds into the second period of the December 12, 2019 game against the Prince George Cougars. The franchise record belongs to Tanner Sidaway as he scored seven seconds into the second period of the February 15, 2019 game also against the Prince George Cougars.

Rookie Sensation: Royals' forward Keanu Derungs scored again today after recording a goal against the Giants last night. In 10 meetings against Vancouver this season, Derungs has scored the most goals of any Royals' player with four. The Swiss rookie has 29 points (15g-14a) in 54 games this season.

Playing with the Lead: In today's game, Victoria carried the lead into the third period for the 18th time. When going into the final frame with the scoreboard advantage, the Royals have a record of 15-2-1-0.

Injury Report: Today's game saw the Royals dress a total of 18 players again, two less than the maximum 20 allowed. These 18 included a trio of affiliated players in Ty Ettinger, Gannon Laroque and Connor Martin. Victoria is currently without starting goaltender Shane Farkas, defencemen Jacob Herauf and Noah Lamb as well as forwards Kaid Oliver, Carson Miller, Ty Yoder and Graeme Bryks.

Road Trip: Victoria embarks on a three-game road trip that kicks off in Portland Saturday, March 7th with puck drop at 6:00 p.m., followed by a game on Sunday, March 8th at 5:00 p.m. The Royals then make a stop in Kelowna to conclude their trip against the Rockets. Puck drop for that game is at 7:05 p.m.

Next Home Game: The Royals will return home Friday, March 13th and Saturday, March 14th for a two-game homestand against the Prince George Cougars.
