
Americans Earn Point in 4-3 Shootout Loss to Spokane

KENNEWICK, WA - The Americans traveled to Spokane today to take on the Chiefs. Though never trailing throughout the night, the Americans were unable to secure the victory and fell 4-3 in a shootout to Spokane.
Landon Roberts opened scoring tonight 3:50 into the game with his second WHL goal. Roberts' goal, assisted by Tyson Greenway and Paycen Bjorklund, was scored top-shelf on the blocker side of Spokane goaltender James Porter Jr. with a shot from the right circle. Tri-City held their one goal lead into the second period.
Luke Toporowski evened the score for Spokane just 2:31 into the second. Tri-City's Blake Stevenson and Booker Daniel connected to put the Americans back in front just two minutes later. Edge Lambert extended the Americans lead to two with a shorthanded breakaway goal.
Goaltender Talyn Boyko played the full game in net for the Americans making 54 saves through the night. Boyko's impressive performance held Tri-City's lead into the final frame.
With under five minutes remaining in the game New Jersey Devil's prospect Ty Smith added two quick goals to tie the game at three.
The game ultimately extended into a shootout. Brad Ginnell was the only shooter to find the back of the net giving Spokane the win and extra point.
Only one point tonight.
