Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals were bested 6-2 by the Vancouver Giants, in a contest which saw seven regulars absent from the home team's line-up, on Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Notes:

February Recap: Tonight's match-up marked the Royals' final contest of February. During the month, the Royals went 4-2-0-1 at home. The club's leading scorers in their 12 February games were Brandon Cutler (13 points), Gary Haden (11 points), Kaid Oliver (10 points) and Phillip Schultz (10 points).

Injury Report: Tonight's game saw the Royals dress a total of 18 players, two less than the maximum 20 allowed. These 18 included a trio of affiliated players in Ty Ettinger, Gannon Laroque and Connor Martin. Victoria is currently without starting goaltender Shane Farkas, defencemen Jacob Herauf and Noah Lamb as well as forwards Kaid Oliver, Carson Miller, Ty Yoder and Graeme Bryks.

Shorthanded: Phillip Schultz's shorthanded tally in tonight's game was his 16th goal of the season and second shorthanded marker. Schultz's first shorthanded tally of the season came on November 22, 2019 in a 5-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings, where he recorded his second career hat-trick. Victoria has now scored nine shorthanded goals this season with the other markers being tallied by Kaid Oliver (3), Brandon Cutler (2), Will Warm and Tarun Fizer.

Former Giant: Royals' affiliated defenceman Ty Ettinger faced his former team in tonight's contest. Ettinger was recalled from the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). In his 32 AJHL games this season, split between the Crusaders and Fort McMurray Oil Barons, he has registered 14 points (6g-8a). Since his rights were acquired from the Winnipeg ICE at the trade deadline, Ettinger has been called up on three separate occasions by Victoria where he has posted a goal and 31 penalty minutes in six games. Last season, the Ardrossan, AB native earned three assists in 31 games played with Vancouver.
