
Royals Host Annual Fans' Choice Awards Banquet

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today hosted the seventh annual Fans' Choice Awards Banquet at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The black-tie event featured presentations by General Manager Gordon Kaye, Head Coach Karl Taylor, and Captain Matt Herneisen. The awards ceremony kicked off with the General Manager's Award, which was presented to Brad Drey of Purdon House of Photography, the Royals' team photographer, who was recognized for his years of exceptional service for the team. The annual 'Top Hat & Tails' award was presented by Sharon Miller of Avenue West Tuxedos, who upgraded the formal wear of Steven Later for the evening. The evening concluded with an auction of the V&M Towing Warm-up jerseys with the proceeds going to Royals Charities.
The Fans' Choice Awards themselves were given out as follows: Heart Award Presented by Cardiology Associates of West Reading: Joe Zappala; (ii) Offensive Player of the Year Presented by Nathaniel Ehrlich, Esq.: Dany Roussin; (iii) Rookie of the Year Presented by The Works at Wyomissing: Jon Quick; (iv) Unsung Hero Presented by Freymoyer's Hotel & Restaurant: Ned Lukacevic; (v) Defensive Player of the Year Presented by V&M Towing: Shawn Germain and Rob LaLonde; (vi) Scrapper of the Year Presented by Royal Green, LLC: Mike Salekin; (vii) Ironman Award Presented by Hair on the Avenue: Charlie Kronschnabel; (viii) Community Service Award Presented by United Way of Berks County: Terry Denike; (ix) Most Valuable Player Presented by Auto Spa of Wyomissing: Brock Hooton; (x) Fans Choice Award Presented by the Reading Eagle: Joe Zappala.
The Royals return to action on Wednesday night (April; 7:05 pm) when the Johnstown Chiefs visit the Sovereign Center. There will be a post-game autograph session presented by Sir Speedy Printing with a couple of the Royals' players on the concourse level of the Sovereign Center. The game night broadcast on Wednesday will begin at 6:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
