
Royals Fall Short against Thunderbirds

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals erased a 4-1 deficit, but were defeated 5-4 by the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Royals' forward Tyler Soy tallied a powerplay marker mid-way through the second period to spark a comeback for Victoria. The Royals struck again on the man-advantage just over two minutes later when Matthew Phillips tallied his team leading 38th goal of the season. Victoria's Jared Dmytriw tied the contest when he converted on a breakaway early in the third period. The Royals' other tally was registered by Ralph Jarratt in the first period.
Seattle's Ethan Bear scored the game winner on the powerplay in the third period. The Thunderbirds' received a pair of goals from Keegan Kolesar, while Austin Strand and Ryan Gropp scored the remaining markers for the visitors.
Victoria netminder Griffen Outhouse made 23 saves on the 28 shots he faced. Seattle goaltender Rylan Toth stopped 19 of the 23 pucks fired his way.
The Royals went 2/633.3% on the powerplay, whereas the Thunderbirds posted a mark of 3/560.0% on the man-advantage.
Victoria is back in action this weekend when they take on BC Division rivals the Kamloops Blazers on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m. for both matches. All fans that had tickets for tonight's game, in attendance or not, can exchange it for a new one to either of the two contests vs. the Blazers.
