Vancouver Giants News Release
Prince George, B.C. - David Tendeck made 38 saves and stopped four players in the shootout to help the Vancouver Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Western Conference leading Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night at the CN Centre. Ty Ronning and Johnny Wesley scored for the G-Men while Wesley also netted the shootout winner.
Tendeck came up big in the first period, turning aside all 14 Prince George shots while the G-Men mustered five shots on Prince George goaltender Ty Edmonds.
Jackson Leppard opened the scoring for the home team in the middle frame, beating Tendeck from the left circle. Ronning tied the game for the Giants just 30 seconds later, burying the rebound of a James Malm shot. Wesley put Vancouver ahead a few minutes later, firing a hard wrist shot past Edmonds from the right circle on a power play.
Bethune tied the game with a power play marker of his own in the third period to eventually force overtime. Both clubs had chances to win the game in the extra period. Tendeck made a fabulous save on Vancouver Canucks prospect Tate Olson while Ronning was denied by Edmonds at the other end of the ice.
Ronning and Wesley both scored in the shootout to give the Giants the extra point.
Vancouver went 1-for-3 on the power play.
Up next, the Giants will visit the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night at 7:00pm.
