Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB- The Edmonton Oil Kings will be supporting Edmonton's Food Bank through the selling of limited-edition Oil Kings lunchboxes. The lunchboxes will be sold this Sunday, February 12 during the Oil Kings home game at 4:00 PM at Rogers Place when they play host to the Calgary Hitmen in the Battle of Alberta.
All proceeds from the limited-edition Oil Kings lunchbox sales will benefit Edmonton's Food Bank. Edmonton's Food Bank collects donated food for effective distribution, free of charge, to people in need in the Edmonton area while seeking solutions to the causes of hunger. The organization is a central warehouse and referral centre for more than 230 agencies, churches and food depots.
Today, Edmonton's Food Bank serves over 20,000 people per month through their hamper programs.
"Thanks to generous community support and fundraisers like the Edmonton Oil Kings Lunchbox Sales, we are able to help the community," said Edmonton's Food Bank Executive Director Marjorie Bencz, CM. "Food is the foundation of good health and is critical in building strong individuals, families and communities. Thank you to the Edmonton Oil Kings for your ongoing commitment to feeding people."
This is the first year that the Edmonton Oil Kings will be introducing their limited-edition lunchboxes. Fans can purchase these limited-edition lunchboxes on the main concourse for a minimum gift of $10 in support of Edmonton's Food Bank.
"Edmonton's Food Bank has become such a driving force in the community. As a hockey organization, we recognize the importance of good nutrition," said Edmonton Oil Kings Director of Business Operations Kevin Radomski. "The Edmonton Oil Kings organization is proud to team up with Edmonton's Food Bank in the sale of our special-edition lunchboxes."
Tickets are still available for Sunday afternoon's game, starting at just $20. Doors open at 3:00 PM and the puck drops between the Oil Kings and Calgary Hitmen at 4:00 PM.
