
Royals drop 'Birds, split series

MEMPHIS, TN - Omaha earned a series split with an 8-2 win over Memphis Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
With the game tied 2-2 in the fifth the Royals took advantage of a Memphis miscue to score two runs and take the lead. Omaha blew the game open in the eighth inning with three more runs before tacking on another run in the ninth. Irving Falu and Mike Moustakas led the way for the O-Royals with three hits apiece with Moustakas and Jai Miller driving in two runs each. Adron Chambers had two of the âBirds six hits.
Luis Coleman picked up the win in relief for Omaha turning in two scoreless innings. Memphis starter Brandon Dickson fell to 9-7 after allowing four runs, two earned, on eight hits over six innings. Royals starter Blaine Hardy gave up two unearned runs in his 4.1 innings of work.
The Redbirds begin an eight-game road trip tomorrow night at Las Vegas with first pitch slated for 9:05 p.m. CT. Lance Lynn gets the nod for the âBirds against 51s right-hander Lance Broadway.
