NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Adam Stern's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth propelled the Nashville Sounds to a 4-2 victory over the Round Rock Express in Tuesday night's series finale at Herschel Greer Stadium. The Express (44-67) dropped seven of eight on their eight-game road trip, dropping each of the final three games at Nashville. The Sounds (59-51) claimed the series three-games-to-one, and the teams finished their season series with eight wins each.

With runners at first and second and two outs in the sixth, Yorman Bazardo issued a wild pitch that put both runners in scoring position. Stern then singled to right, scoring both runners and breaking a 2-2 tie.

Round Rock loaded the bases in the ninth but could not muster a run. With runners on the corners and one out, Chris Shelton lined out to Stern in left field. Jack Shuck then walked to load the bases, but Wladimir Sutil struck out to end the game.

That made a winner of Josh Butler (2-1), who allowed two runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Donovan Hand, Mitch Stetter and Chris Smith each worked an inning of scoreless relief to close the game. Smith tight-roped the ninth-inning peril and notched his 21st save of the season.

Bazardo (2-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Bayliss recorded the final out of the sixth with Stern was caught stealing. Roy Corcoran and Casey Daigle each worked a perfect inning of relief; Daigle had one strikeout.

Nashville took an early 2-0 lead with solo spots in each of the first two innings. Eric Farris singled with one out in the first, and Mat Gamel followed with an RBI single to right. Consecutive singles from Luis Cruz and Stern opened the second, and a wild pitch put both runners in scoring position. Ben Johnson then grounded out to second baseman German Duran, scoring Cruz.

Round Rock rallied to tie the game with a run in the third and another in the fifth. In the third, it was Bazardo who benefited from a wild pitch. Bazardo walked with one out and moved to second on Shuck's single; after a Sutil fielder's choice pushed Bazardo to third, the Express pitcher scored on a wild pitch. Sutil again reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth and later scored on Drew Locke's two-out RBI single.

However, the Express missed a chance to take the lead in the sixth as Collin DeLome struck out, stranding runners at second and third. The Express stranded nine runners, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Brian Bogusevic reached in all four plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a walk. Shuck was 2-for-3 and walked twice, while Duran was 2-for-4.

Cruz paced the Nashville attack, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Stern and Gamel each had two hits.

Round Rock begins its eighth home stand Wednesday, opening a four-game series against the Fresno Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at The Dell Diamond. Lefty Polin Trinidad (3-8, 4.96 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express, opposite Grizzlies right-hander Kevin Pucetas (3-6, 6.02 ERA).
