Colorado Springs drilled a season high five home runs including a fifth inning grand slam to defeat the Zephyrs 10-4 on Wednesday evening. Colorado Springs catcher Michael McKenry drilled a solo home run and a grand slam driving home 5 runs for the Sky Sox. Zephyr starter Wes Whisler suffered the defeat falling to 1-6 for the season. Whisler walked three consecutive hitters in the fifth prior to the grand slam. Sky Sox starter Josh Muecke earned the win. The Z's Mike Lamb belted a two run home run for New Orleans. The Zephyrs three game winning streak was snapped.
Game Notes: The game was delayed :30 minutes at the start due to rain. The first pitch temperature of 65 degrees was exactly 30 degrees lower than Tuesdays series finale at Zephyr Field. The Z's added pitcher Alejandro Sanabia from Florida. Brian Lawrence was placed on the disabled list.
