Cassevah and Walden Join Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (August 4, 2010) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Bobby Cassevah to Triple-A Salt Lake. In other movement, right-handed pitcher Matt Shoemaker has been reassigned to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga from Salt Lake and right-handed pitcher Jordan Walden has been promoted to Salt Lake from Double-A Arkansas.

Cassevah, 24, has appeared in seven games of relief for the Angels in 2010, owning a 5.56 ERA with seven strikeouts. He made his major league debut with the Angels on April 9 against the Oakland A's, pitching just over two innings of scoreless relief. In 30 games of relief for the Bees this season, he owns a 2-4 record with a 4.54 ERA, 23 strikeouts and three saves. The Jacksonville, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 34th round of the 2004 draft.

Shoemaker, 23, has appeared in three games (two starts) for the Bees in 2010, owning a 2-1 record with a 5.87 ERA. In 19 games (all starts) for Rancho Cucamonga this season, he owns a 7-7 record with a 4.81 ERA. The Wyandotte, Mich. native originally signed with the Angels in 2008 as a non-drafted free agent.

Walden, 22, has appeared in 38 games of relief for the Travelers in 2010, owning a 1-1 record with a 3.35 ERA and eight saves while being named a Texas League All-Star. He also spent the entire 2009 season with the Travelers, appearing in 13 games (all starts). The Fort Worth, Texas native was originally selected by the Angels in the 12th round of the 2006 draft. His first appearance with the Bees will be his Triple-A debut.
