Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- Five Reno Aces hitters recorded multi-hit games, and Cesar Valdez was brilliant out of the bullpen as Reno took the series opener Wednesday night, 12-1, over the Nashville Sounds at Aces Ballpark.
With the game tied 1-1 in the fourth, Reno exploded for 11 runs in a two-inning stretch and coasted to the victory. The Aces sent 10 men to the plate in the fourth, with Ryan Roberts and Brandon Allen each belting a two-run homer in the frame. In the following inning, Reno sent nine men to the plate for a five-run rally, capped by a Cole Gillespie two-run double.
Kris Benson made a Major League rehabilitation start for the Aces, allowing a run on three hits over three innings of work. Valdez (4-7) entered the game in the fourth and retired the first nine batters he faced. He ended up striking out nine and allowing just three hits over six shutout innings of work.
Nashville starter Chuck Lofgren (7-6) took the loss, surrendering 10 runs-four earned-and 11 hits over 4.1 innings pitched.
Jeff Bailey collected three hits on the night, extending his home consecutive on-base streak to 32 games, a new Aces franchise record.
The Aces and Sounds will hook up again on Thursday night from Aces Ballpark. RHP Kevin Mulvey (5-7, 5.11 ERA) takes the ball for Reno, while LHP Chase Wright (7-6, 4.58 ERA) toes the slab for Nashville. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and this is another Coors Light Thirsty Thursdayâ¢.
Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
