Royals Comeback in Third Period to Top Hitmen

Calgary, AB- The Victoria Royals scored three third period goals to edge the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 on Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome. The contest marked the first game of a season long six game road trip for Victoria.

The Royals tallied three unanswered goals in the final frame with Austin Carroll scoring the game winning goal on the power play with 3:36 remaining. Logan Fisher and Tyler Soy had the other Victoria markers, while Chase Long scored two first period goals for Calgary.

Royals' netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced for the win. Goaltender Mack Shields turned away 19 of 22 shots for the Hitmen.

Victoria went 2/540.0% on the power play while Calgary went 1/714.3%.

The Royals continue their season long six game road trip, with a contest against the Medicine Hat Tigers tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Victoria then heads to Red Deer to take on the Rebels on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:00 p.m. PST.

Victoria will then return home for a pair of games vs. the Vancouver Giants on Friday October 24th and Saturday October 25th. Friday's contest marks the unveiling of the Royals third jersey, while Saturday's game is the annual Pink in the Rink Night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
