Tri-City Americans News Release
Swift Current, SK- The Tri-City Americans (6-4-0-0, 12 pts) were looking to make it four straight wins to end its season-high seven game road trip, but the Swift Current Broncos (6-5-0-0, 12 pts) didn't let that happen, scoring two first period goals and cruising the rest of the game to a 2-0 win in front of 2,165 at the Credit Union iPlex.
The game started off with the teams trading chances, but a couple of early fights raised the energy level for both teams. It helped out Swift Current as they were able to score first, with Glenn Gawdin getting the puck past Eric Comrie to put the Broncos up 1-0. The Americans fought to get back into the game, but Swift Current would add another goal from Jake DeBrusk 14:37 into the first period. Tri-City had the shot advantage in the period 8-6, but Swift Current carried the lead into the second period.
Tri-City came out and tried to get something going in the second, but were outshot 12-7 by the Broncos. Both Eric Comrie and Broncos' goaltender Landon Bow held strong in the period, as neither team was able to score, forcing the Americans to attempt a comeback in the third period.
The Americans came out in the third period and pressed to get a goal to get some momentum on its side. Swift Current goaltender Landon Bow was up for the task, stopping all 10 shots he faced in the period to cruise to the shutout win.
