Cougars Edge G-Men 2-1
October 11, 2014 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release
Thomas Foster had the lone goal for the Vancouver Giants as they fell to the Prince George Cougars by a score of 2-1 on Friday evening. Tyler Benson and Matt Bellerive picked up assists while Payton Lee stopped 30 of 32 shots in the Vancouver net.
The Cougars scored both of their goals in the early stages of the second period to take a 2-0 lead. Jari Erricson found the net just 1:05 into the middle frame when he walked off the end boards and scored from in close. Tate Olson fired a long wrist shot past Lee on a five-on-three power play less than five minutes later for his first goal of the season.
Foster pulled the Giants to within one goal at 6:35 of the third period, scoring on a one-timer after a nice feed from Benson, but the Giants got into penalty trouble late, spending six of the final ten minutes on the penalty kill, and failed to find a tying goal.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the CN Centre at 7:00pm.
Vancouver's next home game will be on October 17th when the Kamloops Blazers visit the Coliseum. For tickets, call 604-4-GIANTS or visit VancouverGiants.com.
