Everett, WA- The Victoria Royals' Tyler Soy led the club offensively with three points (2g-1a) as the team defeated the Everett Silvertips 4-2 on Friday night at the XFINITY Arena.
With the victory, the Royals set the new franchise record for most wins in a single season with 49. Victoria also extended their franchise best winning streak to 12 games. The Royals trailed 1-0 in the opening frame before Soy scored two markers 13 seconds apart. Soy would also register an assist on Jack Walker's game winning goal in the middle frame. Alex Forsberg tallied an empty-net marker to secure the victory for the visitors. Everett's Carson Stadnyk and Devon Skoleski tallied for the homeside. Victoria netminder Griffen Outhouse turned away 22 of the 24 shots he faced in the victory. Silvertips' goaltender Mario Petit stopped 27 of the 30 shots directed his way.
Neither club scored on the powerplay as the Royals held a 0/10.0% mark, while Everett went 0/20.0%.
The Royals return home tomorrow in front of a sold out crowd to wrap-up the regular season with a match against the Everett Silvertips on Fan Appreciation Night. Puck drop slated for 7:05 p.m.
Victoria will have home ice advantage in the first round of the 2016 WHL Playoffs with Games 1 & 2 on Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th.
