Royals Add Goaltender Dan Dunn as Emergency Back-Up

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has added goaltender Dan Dunn as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender. In other transactions completed today, (i) forward Matt Caruana was assigned by the Marlies to the Royals; and (ii) forward Rob Slaney was recalled from the Royals to the Marlies.

Dunn (6'4/206) (22), who hails from Oshawa, Ontario, just completed his senior season at St. Cloud State University, where he compiled a 3-4-1 record with a 3.24 goals against average and an .886 save percentage. Dunn, who was a sixth round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2007, was selected as an All-WCHA Third Team in his junior season. This is the third time that Caruana, a third year pro from Orono, Ontario, has been assigned by the Marlies to Reading. In thirty-four games with the Royals, he has thirty-four points (18g-16a) and twenty-two penalty minutes. Caruana registered ten points (6g-4a) in thirty-three games with the Marlies this season. This is the second time that Slaney, a second year pro from Upper Island Cove, New Foundland, has been recalled to the Marlies. He has played eight games this season with Toronto without registering any points or penalty minutes. In sixty-one games with Reading, Slaney has twenty-four points (7g-17a) and thirty-four penalty minutes.

The Royals kick off the Kelly Cup Playoffs with Game One of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarter-Final series against the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight (Tuesday, April 5 @ 7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center.
