Blades Release Playoff Roster

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Greg Poss announced today the club's 2011 Kelly Cup Playoff roster. The playoff roster has 23 players on in, including 22 active players currently on the roster, plus one player on recall to American Hockey League.

The entire playoff roster consists of 12 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goaltenders. The complete roster is attached.

Added to the roster by the Everblades is rookie goaltender Ryan Zapolski, who wrapped up his four-year collegiate career at Mercyhurst College last month. The 24-year-old finished off his senior campaign with a record of 13-14-3 and a 2.84 goals against average in 31 games, earning him Second Team All-Conference honors by the Atlantic Hockey Association.

The Erie, Pennsylvania native earned All-AHA Conference honors in each of his last three seasons, receiving Third Team honors following his junior year in 2009-10 and Second Team honors following his sophomore season in 2008-09. Overall in 109 career games with the Lakers, Zapolski (pronounced: zah-POHL-skee) was 48-43-11 with a 2.77 GAA and a .920 save percentage.

The Everblades also announced that goalie Bobby Goepfert has been reassigned to the team by the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. The call-up was his third to Charlotte this season, although he has not see any action in his previous visits to the Checkers. In 42 games with the Everblades this season the Kings Park, New York native is 23-13-3 with a 2.74 GAA.

Also re-joining the Everblades from the AHL is forward Dusty Collins. Collins returns after a week-long stint with the Toronto Marlies, during which he played in three games. Overall the Gilbert, Arizona native has skated in 16 games this season with Toronto, Oklahoma City, San Antonio and Manitoba registering one goal.

With the Everblades this season the 26-year-old has played in four games since being acquired by Florida at the trade deadline on March 11 from Ontario. Combined between Ontario and Florida this season in the ECHL Collins has 26 points (9g, 17a) in 53 games.

The Everblades return to action on Tuesday, April 5 when they host the Kalamazoo Wings in Game 1 of the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
