Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals announced today that they have traded Kalem Parker, Brayden Schuurman and a 2027 8th round pick to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for Ben Riche, a 2024 1st round pick, 2026 1st round pick, 2025 2nd round pick, 2027 3rd round pick, and 2026 5th round pick.

"We would like to thank Kalem and Brayden for their contributions in the community and to the Royals organization over the past three seasons." said Royals Vice President of Hockey Operations, Joey Poljanowski. "This trade signals the direction we are committing to moving forward, with an emphasis on youth and player development. These draft picks set us up to build towards the future while embracing our youth this season and adding a competitive forward in Riche."

Riche, a 2005-born forward, is coming off his rookie campaign with the Warriors in 2022-23 in which he played in 63 games. He recorded 8 goals and added 10 assists for 18 points during the season.

The product of Bethune, SK, was originally drafted 33rd overall in the 2nd round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. The centreman stands at 5'10" and 187-pounds.

Prior to his time with the Warriors, Riche was a standout with the U18 Regina Pat Canadians (SMAAAHL). He notched 32 goals and 28 assists for 60 points in 44 games during their 2021-22 season.

In addition to Riche, the Royals will also be receiving a total of five draft picks over the course of the next three seasons including two first round selections.

Heading the other way will be 18-year-old blueliner Kalem Parker from Clavet, SK. He accumulated 157 games with the Royals over the course of the past four seasons after joining the team during the 2020-2021 season.

19-year-old forward Brayden Schuurman will also be en route to Moose Jaw. He suited up in 134 games for the Royals between 2019-2023 where he scored 50 goals and 45 assists for 95 points.
