Tigers Drop First Regulation Loss of the Year in Regina

Regina, SK - For the first time this season, the Medicine Hat Tigers fell in regulation time with a 4-2 loss to the Regina Pats Wednesday night.
It was a tough start to the game with travel delays not getting the Tigers to the Brandt Centre till 6 PM, but the Pats got on the scoreboard first thanks to a Zach Stringer power play goal beating starter Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB) at 8:33. But the Pats weren't done yet with two goals in the final 3:07 of 1st with Parker Berge beating McCallum at 16:53, followed by a Zackary Schantz mark shortly after at 18:47 to give the home side a 3-0 lead heading into the 1st intermission.
The Pats would outshoot the Tigers 14-3 in the opening frame.
In the second period the Tigers showed excellent push back but weren't able to solve Ewan Huet robbing Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) & Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) to keep the Tigers down three. Regina would add another late period tally from a re-direct shot from Cole Temple making it 4-0 Regina, beating Tigers reliever Evan May (Nanaimo, BC) at 18:03.
As the third period started, the Tigers after the conclusion of the 2nd period would start with a power play and Cayden Lindstom (Chetwynd, BC) would take a Reid Andresen (Saskatoon, SK) pass and finally solve Huet to make it 4-1 at 1:05. Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) would add another assist in as many games for the 3rd year Tiger. Medicine Hat would keep up plenty of pressure but couldn't get another past the Pats goaltender till 18:50 with the extra attacker as Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) would finally push home his 2nd of the season to cut the deficit to 4-2.
That would be as close as the Tigers would get despite outshooting the Pats 31-13 in the final two periods and a 60 minute total of 34-27. The Tigers would go 1/4 on the power play, while 2/3 on the penalty kill
The busy week continues for the Tigers on Friday night in Swift Current as they pay a visit to the Broncos for the first time this season, followed by Saturday's 'Pink in the Rink' night against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
