July 8, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
St. Cloud Rox News Release
Rochester, MN - St. Cloud (28-8) survived multiple comeback attempts from Rochester (17-20) to take a 7-5 victory on Friday night, keeping the Rox undefeated in the second half.
Ethan Mann (New Mexico State) started the scoring for the Rox with a two-run home run in the second inning. Mann has hit three of his four home runs this season inside Mayo Park and finished the day with three RBI's.
After being named an all-star this morning, Charlie Condon (Georgia) was fantastic at the plate on Friday night. Condon had four hits in four at-bats with three RBI's, including a two-run double in the ninth that ended up being the difference for St. Cloud. Condon now leads the entire Northwoods League in RBI's with 39 this summer.
Fellow all-star, John Nett (St. Cloud State) also had a four-hit day at the plate. Nett had singles in his first four at-bats and scored two more runs, raising his Northwoods League-leading total to 46 this season.
Hunter Day (Tarleton State) had a strong outing in his sixth start of the season, posting zeroes in four of his five innings on the mound. After giving up a few runs in the fourth, Day bounced back with three quick outs in the fifth to get the game into the late innings.
After Day's evening was over, Nick Hyde (Western Carolina) entered and had his best outing of the season. Hyde faced nine batters and retired all of them, including three strikeouts to keep the Rox on top heading into the ninth.
St. Cloud finishes its series with the Honkers on Saturday night at Mayo Field. First pitch from Rochester is scheduled for 6:35 pm. The Rox return to Joe Faber Field on Tuesday to start a series with La Crosse. First pitch at the Rock Pile is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
