
Rockers Earn Wild Win in Madison Thursday

Madison, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers defeated the Madison Mallards Thursday night, 11-9, in a wild, offensive contest.
Green Bay scored first in the top of the first. With two outs, Griffin Stevens and Owen Jackson hit back-to-back doubles. For Jackson, that was the first of four runners that he would drive in.
The Mallards scored four times in the second inning on three hits. JJ Wetherholt had an RBI single in the frame.
Green Bay responded in the top of the third with four of its own. Owen Jackson had an RBI single in addition to a sacrifice fly by Carson Yates.
In the fifth, Green Bay made it 8-4. Collier Cranford scored on an error, Yates scored on a Matt Scannell sacrifice fly and Brendan Ryan scored Justin Simpson on a single. In the bottom of the frame, the Mallards made it 8-5 on a wild pitch.
Madison cut the lead to 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth, then in the seventh, the Rockers got an important insurance on a Ryan fielder's choice. The Mallards made it 9-8 in the bottom of that frame, when Nick Gonzalez scored Estevan Moreno on a fielder's choice.
In the eighth, the Mallards tied the game at nine on a bases loaded walk drawn by Liam Moreno.
In the top of the ninth, with two strikes and two outs and two runners on, Owen Jackson hit a two-run double. The hit scored Tristin Garcia and Griffin Stevens. Jackson finished 3-for-4, with two doubles, a single and four runs knocked in.
Rashad Ruff shut the door in the bottom of the ninth by retiring the Mallards in order and ensuring the 11-9 win.
The Rockers look to win two straight games as they face the Kalamazoo Growlers for the first time this season Friday night. First pitch from Ashwaubenon is set for 6:35 p.m.
