Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
KENOSHA, WI - Garrett Martin breezed through seven innings against the Kenosha Kingfish Friday, and the Battle Creek Battle Jacks earned their first win of the second half, 4-1.
The Battle Jacks got on the board first. Bobby Nichols led off the top of the third with a hustle-double to right and scored on an Aaron Dolney RBI single through the right side.
Kenosha tied the game in the fourth. Jay Beshears started the inning with a double to right-center field, and he came home on a Brady Counsell infield single.
Battle Creek grabbed the lead right back in the fifth. Dillon Kark tripled down the left-field line, and Pat Mills plated him with a sac-fly to center.
The Battle Jacks tacked on two more in the next frame. An error and a James Canar RBI single to center gave Battle Creek a 4-1 cushion.
Martin was masterful for the Battle Jacks in his start. He fired a strong seven innings for the second consecutive outing, striking out five and only surrendering one run.
Cole Altherr picked up his first save for Battle Creek. He pitched two hitless innings to slam the door shut in the 4-1 win.
The Battle Jacks (19-20) and Kingfish (18-21) do battle again Saturday. First pitch is slated for 7:35 p.m. ET.
