Brockton Rox News Release

(Quebec City, QC - June 7, 2011) - The Quebec Capitales (8-3) defeated the Brockton Rox (8-4) twice Tuesday at Stade Municipal, 3-2 and 8-6, to take a half game lead in the Can-Am League standings.

Prior to the series opener, the Rox and Capitales resumed a suspended game from June 1 at Campanelli Stadium, tied 2-2 in the eighth inning. Quebec went on to claim the win, slapping three consecutive singles with two outs in the top of the ninth as Daniel Barbero plated game winning run Robert Wagner to make the final score 3-2.

The regularly scheduled affair featured a seesaw battle in which Brockton scored first and the game was tied on three separate occasions, but Quebec eventually emerged victorious.

Melvin Falu got things started in the top of the first inning, knocking in Chris Valencia, giving the Rox an early 1-0 lead.

Pierre-Luc LaForest answered right back for Quebec in the second frame, belting a two-run home run as part of a three-run inning, but would soon be upstaged by Ryan Royster.

Royster connected for the first of his three home run blasts in the third, followed by two-run bomb in the fourth and another deep fly in the seventh. The Rox leftfielder finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Royster's third and final homer left the game tied 6-6 after seven, but the Capitales charged back one last time in the eighth.

Colin Lynch (0-1) took the loss after loading the bases in the eighth on a single, a hit batsmen and a throwing error. Quebec went on to score twice in the inning, first on a wild pitch by Lynch and then on a bases loaded walk by Reid Jackson, making the score 8-6.

Dexter Bobo (1-0) tossed a clean inning and 2/3 to pick up his first win, while Anthony Sullivan shut down the Rox in the ninth for his first save.

The roadtrip continues Wednesday evening with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. in Quebec City. The contest features a battle of righthanders as the Rox will send veteran Freddy Flores to the rubber to be opposed by Karl Gelinas.
