Can-Am League Game Recap
June 7, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Newark 8, New Jersey 4
The Bears never trailed Tuesday night, though twice New Jersey came back to tie the score. After the Jackals' last comeback attempt in the sixth inning, New Jersey put the pedal to the floor and plated three runs in the bottom of the frame. Bears CF Tim Raines Jr. went 5-5 with two runs and Newark's last RBI of the game, a one-run double in the bottom of the seventh. The Jackals' offense was led by Kris Sanchez, who went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Quebec 8, Brockton 6 [Regularly scheduled game]
It was another nail-biter between Quebec and Brockton Monday night. After defeating the Rox, 3-2, in the double-header's first contest, Quebec used two unearned eighth-inning runs to pull ahead of Brockton for good. The Rox managed to get the tying run to the plate in the ninth. But when Chris Valencia grounded out to Quebec 2B Mathieu Vallieres, the game was over, and Quebec had a two-win day. Capitales DH Pete LeForest pushed across two runs and scored two of his own on a 2-4 night.
