Bridgeport Islanders News Release

Bridgeport Sound Tigers' defenseman Allan Rourke has been recalled by the parent club New York Islanders. Radek Martinek, arguably the Islanders' best defenseman this season, will be out of action for four weeks after suffering a broken bone in his foot during the team's 2-0 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night at the Coliseum. To replace him in the lineup, the Islanders recalled Rourke on an emergency basis.

In 29 games for the Sound Tigers this season, Rourke has three goals and six assists for nine points and has 26 penalty minutes.

The Sound Tigers signed 21-year-old Jamie Fraser to a PTO to fill the void on the blue line. In 27 games with the South Carolina Stingrays of the East Coast Hockey League, Fraser had five goals and 23 assists for 28 points this season. Fraser had just six penalty minutes in his ECHL action this campaign. He also played in two games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch and did not register a point. Fraser is 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds. He was born in Sarnia, Ontario.

Rourke signed with the Islanders in August of 2005 and split time between Bridgeport and the Islanders in 2005-06, his first season with organization. In six games with the Islanders last season, he recorded one assist and in 58 games for Bridgeport he compiled nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points and had 42 penalty minutes. This will be Rourke's third season in the NHL; he played in 25 games for the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003-04 season, when he recorded a goal and two assists to go along with 22 penalty minutes.
