Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Chris Minard scored two goals and Andy Greene contributed two assists to lead the Lowell Devils to a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Saturday night before 6,515 at the Wachovia Spectrum. Philadelphia found the game's first goal with just 1:15 remaining in the first period. Nolan Baumgartner fired a shot from the right point through traffic, and Tony Voce changed the puck's itinerary to send it past goaltender Frank Doyle for the 1-0 lead. The Devils tied the game with a shorthanded marker at 5:15 of the second period. Tuomas Pihlman found a puck at center ice and just outdistanced a Phantoms defender to get a backhand off on Martin Houle. Houle made the initial stop, but Pihlman was able to nudge the rebound over the line to make it a 1-1 contest. Minard gave his club the lead with just under eight minutes to play in the second. The Devils forced a turnover in the Philadelphia end, and Minard was able to convert the opportunity and make it 2-1 at the 12:08 mark. Lowell stretched its lead to 3-1 on a power play just 66 seconds into the third period. Jim Fahey carried a puck out of his own end and across the Philadelphia line before dropping a pass to Minard, who snapped a neat wrist shot high past Houle. Houle took the loss but earned third star honors with 26 saves on 29 Lowell chances. Doyle earned the win by turning aside 27 of 28. The teams seemed to be fishing, as they combined for eight hooking penalties over the course of the contest. The Phantoms open 2007 with a rematch against Lowell on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:05 at the Wachovia Spectrum. The first 5,000 fans through the doors will receive a Phantoms fleece blanket courtesy of Dodge. Individual tickets for all Phantoms games, including $8 tickets for children 14 and under anywhere in the building, are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
