Bridgeport Islanders News Release

Bridgeport Sound Tiger rookie Frans Nielsen extended his point streak to eight games with an assist, but the Sound Tigers were topped 3-1 on the road by the Springfield Falcons on Saturday night. The Sound Tigers dropped their fifth straight road game and fell to 13-15-1-3 overall. The Falcons, meanwhile, improved to 19-14-0-1 and swept the season series 2-0 before 3,842 fans at the MassMutual Center.

Falcon goaltender Jonathan Boutin stopped 36 shots as the Sound Tigers finished the game with a decisive 37-27 shots on goal advantage. Norm Milley had two assists and three players scored to lead the way for the Falcons.

The score was tied 1-1 late in the second period before Springfield took the lead for good. Daniel Corso redirected the puck past Sound Tigers goaltender Michael Mole at 18:49 of the second period for a 2-1 lead. Springfield defenseman Andy Delmore's insurance tally, a power play goal 4:50 in the third, gave the Falcons a 3-1 edge.

Mole stopped David Spina's first period penalty shot to keep the game scoreless just 2:56 into the contest. Springfield defenseman Doug O'Brien broke a scoreless tie with his first goal of the year at 6:05 of the second period. Just 2:33 after O'Brien's goal, Bridgeport's Steve Regier netted his ninth goal, on the power play, to knot the score; Nielsen and Eric Boguniecki assisted the play.

The Sound Tigers were 1-for-6 on the power play and the Falcons went 1-for-7 on the advantage.

The Sound Tigers return to the Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Albany River Rats on Sunday, New Year's Eve, at 3 p.m. Great seats are available at the Arena at Harbor Yard Box Office.
