Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders bested the San Antonio Missions 4-1 on Friday evening at Riders Field.

The RoughRiders (20-11) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Josh Hatcher drove in Kellen Strahm and Maximo Acosta with a single against San Antonio (14-16) starter Robby Snelling (1-2).

Pitching with a two-run lead, Dane Acker cruised into the fourth inning, but walked Juan Zabala with the bases loaded in the fourth before exiting the game. Steven Jennings (2-0) replaced Acker and induced an inning-ending ground out, preserving the RoughRiders 2-1 lead.

Acker finished with a final line of 3.2 innings, allowing just the one run on two hits and five walks while striking out four.

Jennings tossed a scoreless fifth and sixth, surrendering just one hit.

Strahm extended the Riders lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly, plating Geisel Cepeda in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Riders added their final run in the bottom of the eighth when Hatcher drove in Keyber Rodriguez with a single to left, making it a 4-1 advantage.

Damian Mendoza earned his first save, spinning 3.0 hitless frames while punching out three.

Offensively, the Riders only struck out twice while managing eight hits. Hatcher provided three hits and three RBI. Acosta, Cepeda and Hatcher each recorded doubles.

Next, the RoughRiders continue a six-game series with the Padres affiliated San Antonio Missions at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th. The RoughRiders are expected to turn to RHP Emiliano Teodo (1-1, 2.91) against RHP Victor Lizarraga (0-1, 3.00) for the Missions.

Evan Carter Weekend continues on Saturday with a bobblehead giveaway of his memorable ALCS catch vs. Houston last season, presented by Medium Giant. The World Series Trophy will also be on hand for photos during the game on a first-come first-served basis.

Remember, every Saturday at Riders Field, kids can run the bases following the game courtesy of our friends at Raising Cane's.
