RoughRiders' Recent Community Initiatives Achieve Tremendous Success

FRISCO, TEXAS (June 5, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders and the over 9,700 fans that attended last Saturday's home game at Dr Pepper Ballpark came together to make a difference for three important causes.

Throughout the May 30 home game, more than $4,000 was raised for local military charities as part of the RoughRiders' annual Military Appreciation Night, while over 1 ton of non-perishable food was collected as part of the 5th Annual Food Bank Night in partnership with Whataburger. In addition, the RoughRiders and media partner KLAK-FM collaborated on the first-ever Pet Adopt-a-Palozza to raise awareness for pet adoption and help shelter animals find a loving, new home.

In honor of the special occasion, the Riders wore commemorative digital camouflage jerseys, which were auctioned off after the game when players presented the jerseys "off their backs" to winning bidders.

All proceeds from the auction benefited the RoughRiders Foundation, which will donate the entire allotment to various local military charities. All active military personnel and veterans received discounted tickets to the game and were honored throughout the evening. U.S. Navy veteran Joey James's Band performed during the Post-Game Party, which takes place at the ballpark following every home Saturday date. The first 2,000 fans in attendance received a military themed Riders jersey t-shirt.

Additionally, the RoughRiders and Whataburger teamed up to collect more than 2,500 pounds food during their 5th Annual Food Bank Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark on May 30. All proceeds from food drive will benefit Little Elm Food Bank and Frisco Family Services Food Pantry. Each participant who donated two or more items received a free Whataburger voucher.

The mission of the Frisco RoughRiders Foundation is to enhance the community we serve through charitable, grants and programming initiatives.
