SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI - The Frisco RoughRiders and Springfield Cardinals traded jabs on Thursday night, but TreverAdams scored his third run of the game in the eighth inning to help the Riders win 8-7. Adams finished the evening a double shy of the cycle, hitting his first Texas League home run of the season in the second inning off Andrew Morales.

Adams led off the eighth inning with a triple to right field, and later scored the game winning run when Pat Cantwell notched a sacrifice fly. Adams finished 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Adams hit 14 home runs in 125 games for the RoughRiders last season.

Springfield tied the game on three different occasions. John Rodriguez hit his fifth long long ball to tie the game at two in the first, Anthony Garcia leveled things at four with a two-run double in the third and Breyvic Valera singled to even the ballgame at seven in the seventh.

Preston Beck recorded a two hit night including a two-run, go-ahead double in the sixth inning with the bases loaded to put Frisco ahead 6-5. The Riders would add another on Cantwell's RBI single to lead 7-5, but it didn't last long.

Cody Ege (1-1) allowed two walks to score in the bottom of the seventh on Velera's two-run single and the game was once again tied. Ege was credited with a blown save, but also the winning pitcher because the Riders regained the lead in the top of the eighth on Cantwell's sac fly off Iden Nazario (0-2).

Frank Lopez struggled in his third Double-A start, exiting after the third inning. He allowed four earned runs, and twice coughed up a two-run lead. Springfield's Morales fared worse, giving up seven runs, six earned, and was removed after loading the bases in the sixth.

The Cards had runners on the corners with one out in the eighth when David Martinez induced a crucial 5-4-3 double play to end the frame. Martinez recorded the final six outs of the game to earn his fourth save of the season as Frisco avoided a three game sweep. Each team has won three times in the season series, which will pick up on August 14 at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The Riders travel to Tulsa for three games against the Drillers starting Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Andrew Faulkner (3-3) gets the nod for Frisco against Jose De Leon (0-1). The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on June 9 for a four-game homestand against San Antonio. The team will host a "Full House Night" with special uniforms depicting scenes from the classic '90s sitcom on Friday, June 12.
