Calgary, AB - Veteran Roughnecks forward Kevin Howard is returning home.

The former high scorer with the non defunct Ottawa Rebel, was today made the second pick of newcomers Edmonton Rush in the National Lacrosse League's expansion draft.

A second Rigger, promising youngster Ryan Sharp, went to the NLL's other rookie squad, the Portland LumberJax.

"Obviously, we're sorry to lose two great guys," said Roughnecks President and General Manager, Brad Banister. "But both of them will now get the playing time they probably deserve. With us having the depth we have, it was hard for them to crack the starting line-up."

Regarding Howard, Banister said, "Kevin was raised in Edmonton, still lives there, still works there. He was a natural for the Rush to take. Hopefully, he'll recapture the scoring form that made him a star with the Rebel, though we'd prefer it if he was quiet against us.

"Edmonton have not only got a fine player, they also have a great team guy. He always understood his role here and was never anything but upbeat."

Sharp, whom the Roughnecks drafted 15th overall in the NLL's 2004 entry draft, also saw only spot time with the Riggers.

"This kid has a great future," said Banister, "although he too was a victim of the numbers last season. Ironically, I believe he had a great chance of making our left hand side next season. As he develops, he's going to be quite the threat."
