Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth lost two players on Wednesday when forwards Randy Daly and Del Halladay were selected in the National Lacrosse League expansion draft.

The NLL's two new entries, the Edmonton Rush and Portland (Ore.) LumberJax, each selected nine unprotected players from the league's other nine teams. The teams alternated picks, but Portland chose first by virtue of winning a coin flip last month.

Edmonton selected Daly with the 12th pick in the draft and Portland made Halladay its final selection with the 17th overall pick.

Daly was acquired by the Mammoth prior to the 2005 season but was not activated until March 24. The 25-year-old British Columbia native registered three goals and an assist in two regular season games. He also had an assist in the Mammoth's playoff game.

Halladay, the fourth-highest scorer in team history, had been with the Mammoth since it relocated to Denver from Washington, D.C., in 2002. The 8-year veteran is an unrestricted free agent, which means he could be signed by the Mammoth - or any other club - if Portland chooses not to designate him one of its two franchise players.

The 32-year-old British Columbia native registered 11 goals and 12 assists in 11 regular season games for the Mammoth in 2005.

Portland selected forward Mike Hominuck from the Buffalo Bandits with the first pick in the expansion draft. Edmonton used its initial pick on goaltender Rob Blasdell of the San Jose Stealth.
