Roughnecks Fall to Rush 18-13

Calgary, AB - The Edmonton Rush handed the Calgary Roughnecks an 18-13 decision Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Roughnecks, who fell to 2-1 in the four-game Homes by Avi Battle of Alberta series, recognized Kaleb Toth as the first inductee in the "Forever A Roughneck" program during an extended pre-game ceremony.

Daryl Veltman topped the Roughnecks with an eight-point performance (1g, 7a), while Jeff Shattler scored a three power play markers and added three helpers. Shawn Evans, Dane Dobbie and rookie Joe Resetarits each tallied two goals and two assists in the loss, while Curtis Dickson (2g) and Greg Harnett (1g) rounded out Calgary's scoring.

Rush forward Ryan Ward recorded a game-leading 10 points (2g, 8a), while Jarrett Davis scored a pair of goals and set up three others. Zack Greer (3g, 1a), Mark Matthews (3g, 1a) and Cory Conway (4a) each recorded four-point efforts for Edmonton. Corey Small notched two goals in the win, while six different Rush players added a single tally including an empty net marker.

Mike Poulin, who started for Calgary, played just under 50 minutes and was dealt the loss, stopping 23-of-37 shots faced. In 10:13 between the pipes, Frankie Scigliano made seven saves on 10 shots.

The Roughnecks (5-5) return to action on Friday, March 8 when Calgary hosts the Minnesota Swarm (3-5) for Pete The Plumber Superhero Night. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
