Regina Pats News Release

First Period The back half of the home and home between the Pats and Warriors looked very similar to the first game in Regina with plenty of physicality and it kicked off with a tilt between Tanner Eberle and Dyson Stevenson just seconds into the game. The Pats found their way onto the scoreboard first when Morgan Klimchuk dropped the puck to Lane Scheidl in the slot and the Pats leading scorer snapped his 34th of the season in off the post. The Warriors answered right back with Tyler Bell ripping a point shot past the crowd in front and past Matt Hewitt to square the game 1-1. The next shift saw tempers flare and plenty of penalty minutes were handed out the rest of the way, 84 total minutes in the first period. The Pats were granted one full powerplay in the opening frame and they capitalized as Emil Sylvegard unleashed a shot from the point that beat Justin Paulic to send the Pats to the break with a 2-1 lead. Moose Jaw held advantage in the shot department after one, 13-12.

Second Period The Pats continued to bring the pressure in the second period and struck early in the frame as Dyson Stevenson spied Chandler Stephenson behind the defence. The Capitals draft pick made a slick move to put the puck by Paulic and vault the Pats to a 3-1 lead. The Warriors weren't about to roll over and came back at the Pats, but Matt Hewitt turned away all 11 shots he faced in the period. Late in the period, the Pats cashed in on the rush again as Stephenson located Jack Rodewald in the slot and Rodewald beat Paulic top corner as the Blue and White carried a 4-1 lead into the final period with the shots tied 24-24.

Third Period The final frame was a wild one as the Pats would score three more times in the contest. The Pats got their fifth just ninety seconds into the period as Kyle Burroughs scored his fourth of the season on the powerplay. The Warriors did put a press on as Kendall McFaull would reply with a powerplay marker of his own with Sam Fioretti picking up the lone assist. The Pats weathered the brief storm before the Warriors got into penalty trouble again and the Pats added two more powerplay goals. Klimchuk tapped in his 33rd of the season when Stephenson found him cross-crease for both players fourth point of the night. Just before regulation ended, Patrick D'Amico added a feather to the Pats' cap by scoring his first WHL goal and point to wrap the game up at a 7-2 final score. The teams went on to total 171 penalty minutes in the contest.
