(Ogden, UT) - The Owlz (13-27) lost the series finale with the Ogden Raptors (33-7) 14-1 on Saturday night in Ogden at Lindquist Field, starting the second half of the season with two consecutive losses.
Ogden jumped on the Owlz early, scoring two runs in the first inning on a Ryan Ward single and a Sauryn Lao bases loaded jam. Owlz starter Sadrac Franco lasted just three batters before being removed from the game. Sam McWilliams doubled the Raptors lead in the second inning hitting a two-run home run.
The Owlz struggled to get anything going offensively, trailing 4-0 until the sixth inning when the Raptors scored three runs to up their lead to 7-0. Ogden wasn't done, scoring three more in the seventh and four runs in the eighth inning, taking a 14-0 lead.
The Owlz scored their only run of the game in the ninth inning. Will Wilson hit his second double of the game and later scored on a wild pitch as the Owlz went on to lose 14-1.
Antonio Hernandez (2-0) earned the win for the Raptors while Sadrac Franco (0-2) was charged with the loss. The Owlz will head to Rocky Mountain to open a series with the Vibes on Monday night at 6:40.
