MISSOULA, Mont. -- The Billings Mustangs (2-1, 17-24) topped the Missoula Osprey (1-2, 21-20) 9-2 on Sunday to earn a split of the four-game series in front of 1,356 at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.
After a strikeout to lead off the second inning, the Mustangs rattled off four straight reaches, including three hits, to open their scoring. Leonardo Seminati was walked with the bases loaded and Quin Cotton singled in two runners to lead the way, giving Billings an early 4-0 lead.
TJ Hopkins led off the third with a solo home run to opposite field. It was the second homer in the last three days for Hopkins who finished the day 2-for-4 with a triple, home run, walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Hopkins went 8-for-16 in the four-game series.
Noah Davis made his Pioneer League debut in the start on Sunday, throwing four shutout innings, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out four. The four innings of work was a season-high for Davis.
Edwin Yon provided just the second five-hit game of the year for Billings. The designated hitter finished 5-for-5 with his first triple of the season, one run and one RBI. He raised his batting average 40 points with the performance.
Omar Conoropo (4-0) earned his team-high fourth win of the year in four innings of relief. The left-hander gave up one run on four hits, walking two and striking out two.
The Mustangs now head to Great Falls to begin a three-game series with the Voyagers. First pitch in game one on July 29 is set for 7:00 p.m. MDT at Centene Stadium.
