Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

Great Falls, MT - Looking for a win to finish the road trip above .500, the Chukars got off to a good start but had another big inning do them in. The Great Falls Voyagers scored five runs in the third inning and never relinquished the lead, winning 7-5. Idaho Falls finishes their 11 game road trip 5-6 with the first half title in hand, but fall to 0-3 to start the second half.

Michael Emodi whacked a pair of doubles last night, and opened up the scoring in the first inning with a double into the right center field gap, scoring Clay Dungan to make it 1-0 Chukars. For Emodi, it was his third double for an RBI in the past two games.

Chukars starter Grant Gambrell retired the first seven that he faced, but an error cost him dearly in the third. Gambrell hit Tyrus Greene with one out, and a single from Jonathan Allen moved Greene to third. Josh Rivera then hit what looked to be a tailor made double play ball to second base, but Jose Marquez airmailed the flip to the bag, scoring Greene to tie the game at one.

Luis Curbelo then singled to left to load the bases for Harvin Mendoza, who singled into left center to bring home Allen, making it 2-1 Voyagers. Lency Delgado then followed with a lined double down the third base line, scoring two. Luis Mieses capped off the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly, making it 5-1 Great Falls.

Idaho Falls cut the Great Falls lead in half in the sixth inning, as Dungan doubled to start the inning, and Rhett Aplin followed with an opposite field home run, making it 5-3. However, the Voyagers got those two runs back in the seventh as a one out walk to Rivera scored on a triple from Luis Curbelo. Curbelo then scored on a single from Delgado. Delgado finished the day with three RBI and garnered nine in the series.

The Chukars scored two in the eighth inning, but couldn't manage anything in the ninth. Idaho Falls returns home tomorrow for the first of a three game series against the Missoula Osprey. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM, and you can get your tickets by visiting ifchukars.com.
