Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
(GREENSBORO, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers roster had some minor movements this afternoon as Brad McMann was removed from the disabled list while catcher Brad Davis and outfielder Xavier Arroyo were added to the DL.
McCann had been on the disabled list due to a hamstring injury one week ago. McCann had been hitting .200 with two homeruns, five RBI and eight hits in 10 games played. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.
Both Arroyo and Davis have been placed on the DL due to bone fractures. Arroyo broke his thumb on Wednesday during practice prior to the game that evening. He is expected to be on the DL for 6-8 weeks. Catcher Brad Davis suffered a fracture in his wrist and is expected not to return to the active roster for 4-6 weeks time.
Arroyo arrived in Greensboro on Monday and has not seen any playing time yet this season, even during his time with Class High-A Jupiter. He was originally selected in the seventh round of the 2002 First Year Player Draft. Davis, who had acted as the Grasshoppers starting catcher, was selected in the fifth round of the 2004 draft. Davis was batting .163 with eight hits and one homerun in 14 games played.
The Grasshoppers take on the Lakewood BlueClaws tonight at First Horizon Park for game three of a four game series. In two games played, each team has won one game. It is Thirsty Thursday at First Horizon Park and all beverages are discounted. Gates will open at 6:00PM and the game will begin at 7:00PM.
