COLUMBUS, GA‹ In the first two of 23 meetings between the Greenville Bombers and the Columbus Catfish in 2005, the Bombers swept a doubleheader at Golden Park by scores of 6-2 in Game 1 and 8-0 in Game 2. The Bombers scored five times in the first two innings of both games, as Greenville never trailed in the doubleheader. The Catfish managed just two runs and eleven hits between the two games. In Game 1, RHP Javy Guerra gave up a run in the first inning to the Bombers, but Greenville scored four in the 2nd inning with two-out doubles from LF Bryan Pritz, 3B Andrew Pinckney, and 1B John Otness, staking the Bombers to a 5-0 lead. Steidl drove home a run for the Catfish in the second with a single and 1B Dan Batz drove home a run in the sixth with a fielder's choice, but it was too little too late for Columbus, who fell 6-2 in the opener.

Game 2 followed a similar script, as Greenville batted around in the second inning, scoring five runs against Catfish starter RHP Blake Johnson. 3B Andrew Pinckney had the big hit, a two-run single to right in the second. The Catfish got just three hits in the nightcap, with RF James Peterson's two out double in the seventh serving as the only extra base hit for Columbus in the doubleheader.

Tomorrow's Game 3 features RHP Landestoy Troncoso (0-3, 12.54) for Columbus against RHP Kyle Jackson (0-2, 4.50 ERA) on the hill for Greenvile. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Golden Park on Thirsty Thursday, where all beverages, including beer, are just $1 thanks to B&B Beverage and Scruffy Murphy's.
