Hagerstown Suns News Release

Eastlake, Ohio:Hagerstown has encountered some stiff competition against the Lake County Captains as they drop their second of three games on Thursday night, 4-3. The Suns are now 5-5 on the road as opposed to 10-1 at home, 15-6 overall.

A three run homerun by Chris Gimenez put an exclamation point on a four run first inning for the Captains (12-8). Suns starter Gabriel Hernandez (1-1) settled down after that, and didn't allow another run. The Suns were unable to mount a big enough comeback, and Hernandez received his first loss of the season. Chuck Smith and Matt Durkin combined to pitch 3 2/3 innings of perfect relief to keep the Suns in the game.

Grant Psomas got the Suns on the scoreboard with a two run homer in the sixth, and Ambiorix Concepcion led off the ninth with his second dinger of the year. Closer Kieran Mattison got his second save in as many nights though, by retiring the last three Suns hitters of the game.

Suns go for a split on Friday night at 7:05pm when they send RHP Blake Eager (2-0) up against Lake County's LHP Tony Sipp (2-0). The Suns return home Saturday for a four game home stand versus the Kannapolis Intimidators at 6:35pm on Scout Night and Hagerstown Hub Memo Pad Giveaway.
