Hagerstown Suns News Release

Eastlake, Ohio:It wasn't enough to have a 7-1 lead in the fourth inning in game two of a double header Wednesday for Hagerstown. Lake County scored eight unanswered runs over the next two innings and held off the Suns for a 9-7 win. In game one, the Suns won 4-1 behind starter Jose Sanchez (4-0), who went 5 2/3 innings and allowed only and unearned run for his fourth win in four starts.

In game one, Ryan Coultas gave the Suns (15-5) a 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout in the second innning. Carlos Gomez went deep for a two run shot in the sixth to extend that lead to 3-0. Grant Psomas added a solo shot for the final Suns' run later that inning. Carlos Muniz received his fourth save of the season with a scoreless seventh to preserve the 4-1 win.

In game two, the Suns broke open a 2-1 game with a five run fourth inning. Dante Brinkley's 5th homerun of the season, a three run shot, was the big blow. But then Lake County (11-8) scored four in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-7 lead, which held up. Orlando Rengel (0-1) pitched 2/3 of an inning in releif of starter RHP Mike Devaney, and gave up four runs on five hits and a walk to get saddled with the loss. A throwing error in the bottom of the fourth inning by catcher Rafael Arroyo allowed three unearned runs to score. Tyler Davidson was 3-4 in a losing cause.

The Suns have had the lead in every game they have lost (5) this year. They try to come back from this tough loss on Thursday when they send RHP Gabriel Hernandez up against Lake County's LHP Aaron Laffey at 6:35pm.

The Suns come back home on Saturday 4/30 at 6:35pm on Hagerstown Hub Memo Pad Giveaway and Scout Night, when the Kannapolis Intimidators come calling for the first time.
