Captains present second annual Captains Charities 5K and One-Mile Skipper Trot

(Eastlake, OH)— The Lake County Captains and Lake Hospital System will hold the second annual Captains Charities 5K and One-Mile Skipper Trot on Saturday, May 7th beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Classic Park.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Captains Charities, a non-profit arm of the Captains Baseball organization that provides financial support to various charity groups in Northeast Ohio.

The Captains Charities 5K will begin and end at Classic Park. The race is open to all types of runners, and is certified by the Northeast Ohio Running Club Series. The race course winds through the city of Eastlake. The One-Mile Skipper Trot is designed for families and is open to all ages. Children three and under are free, and strollers are welcome.

All participants in both the 5K Race and Skipper Trot will receive a ticket voucher for a future Captains game and gift certificates from Putt-Putt Golf and Games and Pioneer Waterland and Dry Fun Park. The first 500 participants in the 5K race also receive a grey, short-sleeved t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall men's and women's finishers in the 5K, as well as the top three finishers in specific age categories.

The Skipper Trot will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K Race will get underway at 9:00 a.m. Registration packets, goodie bags and t-shirts may be picked up on race day beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Pre-registration for both races extends through May 4th. The pre-registration fee for the 5K Race is $15. The Skipper Trot fee is $10. Registration on the day of the race is $2 extra.
