Rosselli Mashes Three Homers in Win over St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Tony Rosselli launched a franchise-record three home runs, including the go-ahead solo shot in the tenth, to power the Chicago Dogs to a 7-6 win over the St. Paul Saints in the series finale at CHS Field.
The Terre Haute, Indiana native homered in the first, third, and tenth innings and finished with five RBI, another franchise record. Larry Balkwill provided a much-needed insurance run with an RBI single, scoring Jordan Dean, four batters later.
After Rich Mascheri (W, 1-0) allowed a run with one out in the bottom of the tenth, Josh Goossen-Brown (S, 1) took over to close out the game. On the next at-bat, Rosselli caught a fly ball for the second out and then fired a relay throw to third base, where Jordan Dean doubled off Burt Reynolds to secure the victory.
The Dogs got on the board early in the first with three consecutive singles from Edwin Arroyo, Trey Vavra, and Kelly Dugan. Rosselli then hit his first home run of the night to put the Chicago up 4-0.
Rosselli's second home run of the game extended the Dogs' lead to 5-3 in the third. However, the Saints would rally and tie the game with two runs in the sixth, via a sacrifice fly and ground-rule double.
After a rocky first inning in which he allowed three runs, starting pitcher D.J. Snelten settled down and bounced back strong, retiring ten straight Saints between the second and fifth innings. The former San Francisco Giant finished with five earned runs on five hits, while striking out six batters in 5.1 innings pitched.
Pedro Echemendia took over in the sixth and contributed two innings of shutout ball, only allowing one hit.
Taking the reins from Echemendia was Rich Mascheri, who ended the eighth with a clutch strikeout to keep the game knotted at five. After allowing a run in the ninth, Goossen-Brown slammed the door with the game-ending double play.
Next up for the Dogs is a three-game set with the Milwaukee Milkmen in Kokomo, Indiana.
