
Rookie Defenseman Eric Roy Signs PTO with Monsters

CLEVELAND - In advance of a road clash vs. the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters signed rookie defenseman Eric Roy to a 25-game Professional Tryout Contract (PTO), the team announced Monday. Selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft with the 135th overall pick, Roy has ten goals, 25 points, 13 penalty minutes and a +2 rating to his credit in 34 appearances this season for the ECHL's Allen Americans.
A 6'3", 181 lb. left-handed native of Beauval, SK, Roy, 21, posted 48 goals, 200 points and 213 penalty minutes in 322 career WHL appearances spanning five seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2010 to 2015.
"Eric Roy has been one of the top rookies in the ECHL and has been rewarded for play," said Allen Americans Head Coach and GM Steve Martinson. "Were excited for Eric and his opportunity to shine at the next level."
